Mayday Parade are the emotionally charged Florida pop-punks heading to the UK in summer 2022. Coming to Glasgow’s SWG3 on 5th June 2022.

Florida natives Mayday Parade burst onto the music scene in 2005. This was after the merging of Tallahassee bands Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. Originally a six-piece, members included Jason Lancaster on vocals and guitar, Jake Bundrick on drums. As well as Jeremy Lenzo on bass plus Alex Garcia, Derek Sanders and Brooks Betts all on guitar.

They recorded their debut EP, Tales Told By Dead Friends, in 2006 before they’d even agreed on a band name. After some arguing and out of the need to pick something so they could start handing out the EP at gigs. Mayday Parade was selected by combining words from a list they’d been brainstorming.

Their distinctive punk-pop style and high-energy performances quickly earned them a following. Soon after Mayday Parade were signed to the Fearless label.

Their first full-length album

However, shortly before the 2007 release of their first full-length album, A Lesson In Romantics, frontman Lancaster made an untimely exit. Where some bands might have folded from the loss, they continued on as a five-piece. They quickly adapted to play the songs. They then went on to provide support for Plain White T’s and perform on the Vans Warped Tour. Their debut album ultimately spawned several hits in Miserable At Best and Jamie All Over. As well as Three Cheers For Five Years and When I Get Home You’re So Dead.

Mayday Parade’s second album – and the first without their lyricist and lead singer – arrived in 2009. Following a switch to Atlantic Records, Anywhere But Here saw other members take on vocals in a collection of songs that still epitomised the band’s fresh and invigorating sound.

In 2011, Mayday Parade released an eponymous album, with the hit track Oh Well, Oh Well accompanied by a gothic animated video that won them an IndieStar TV award. The records Monsters In The Closet and Black Lines followed in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

Mayday Parade’s sixth album Sunnyland came out in 2018 on their new label Rise Records. It featured tracks like Piece Of Your Heart and It’s Hard To Be Religious When Certain People Are Never Incinerated By Bolts Of Lightning. That summer Mayday Parade also played Download Festival.

Although the band members now all live in different states, they came together to record new music for 2021. After unveiling the singles Kids Of Summer, One For The Rocks And One For The Scary and Bad At Love, Mayday Parade announced their seventh album, What It Means To Fall Apart, would arrive on 19 November 2021.
