The Glasgow Santa Dash

Glasgow’s Santa Dash is back for another fun charity fundraiser! Get into the Christmas spirit with Glasgow’s funnest 5K fun run!!!
Make sure your name appears on Santa’s nice list this year! Register for Glasgow’s Santa Dash and help raise money for charity. This year’s nominated charities will be confirmed soon.
A new route around Glasgow Green and the Gorbals will be in place for the iconic 5K family fun run and this year’s event will also be more sustainable. Reusable T-shirts printed with Santa suits will replace the old single use costumes.
Runners who take part in the sponsored event can raise funds for their chosen charity and any profits from the event will be split between the Beatson Cancer Charity and the Lord Provost’s Children’s Fund.
Entry
£16 for adults, and £6 for children (those under 16). This includes your Santa suit!!! Children can only take part if they are accompanied by an adult.
How to Register
You can register online on the Glasgow City Council website.
The race begins at 10 am. However you should be at the start for 8:45am for the warm up.
Santa Suits can be collected from a City Centre location. GLC will advise of the location once suits are available to pick up. Race packs will also include the location.

Prams and Dogs
Participants with prams and dogs must start the race in the green group for the safety of other runners.
Dog owners are asked to make sure they have provisions to pick up any dog mess.
Baubles. I have to go to work 6am and the roads and motorway slip road is closed because of those merryfudgers. Will take me ages to get to work. fudgy crumpets.

Are there set charities to fund raise for or can you nominate any?
Registration opened around the end of October for the 2014 race. It will most likely be the same for 2015, but we’ll put the info up here & on facebook as soon as we know. You can raise funds for the charity of your choice.
Do u get medal for completing Santa dash
Not 100% sure, but probably. I got a medal when I ran the race a couple of years ago. Ultimately it’s up to the GCC.
I have just registered and paid for two santa outfits for me and a friend. Should it have been a separate registration? The site allowed me to do it and i paid for two but will we get two registration numbers? Also can we collect from St Enochs on a Saturday? I was going to go in tmrw.
No that is fine you can register two at once. I think you can collect on a Saturday.
Does anyone have recommendations on where to park an automobile for race participants? Also, would it be possible for someone else to pick up my santa suit?
on street parking is generally free on Sunday’s, check the signs for restrictions though if you do park on the street, you don’t wont a ticket. It may also be hard finding a space on the street, depends how early you get there. Buchanan galleries car park is near by, it doesn’t open until 9am on Sunday’s, though you should still have enough time to get to George Square. There are other multi stories about – Glasgow city car parks.
I’m not sure about the picking up your suit. however I’m fairly sure photographic ID is not required. (someone please correct me if I’m wrong)
i live in fort William and would love to take part could I wear my own santa outfit as I would not be able to pick one up and does the travel arrangements just apply to glasgow or would I get free travel from fort William
You can wear your own suit. You do however still have to register and pay for entry into the race. The Free bus travel is on First Glasgow services only.

You can raise money for whoever you like. You still need to pay the registration fee though.
I paid for my entry on the 29th of November and my race pack still hasn’t arrived. I was wondering if there is somebody I could contact in regards to my race number. Thanks, early response would be appreciated.

No minimum – You just need to pay to register (£15 for adults, £5 for kids)
I joined and paid for this activity two weeks ago, but I haven’t received anything till now.

It starts and ends in George Square and in previous years takes you along St. Vincent street to the PC World at Finnieston and then takes you back along the Clyde side and then through the town back to George Square.

What date is the closing date for registraring
Registration will be open most likely until the day of the event, this will depend on numbers however. They have capacity for over 4,000 people to enter.
When registration is completed how do i provide sizes for the santa suits for my son and i?

I want to register my school students. Do I need to do entry for each individual?or please tell me if there is way to do bulk entries !!!
The online form is the only method Glasgow City Council are offering at the moment. You could contact them direct to see if there is anything they can do to help you. There is an email address listed on their Santa Dash page
Can I raise money for my own charity whilst doing the Santa Dash?
You can if you want. You will of course still need to register to enter the race, which currently costs £15 for adults. Once you have entered you can get people to sponsor you for what ever charity you choose!
