George Ezra is the mellow modern-day troubadour has announced a 2022 UK tour. Coming to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on the 26th September 2022.

Hertfordshire-born George Ezra, whose full name is George Ezra Barnett. Made his first appearance on stage at the age of 13. He sang the female part in the Wheatus song Teenage Dirtbag. Obsessed by Bob Dylan, his love of music grew steadily as a teenager. He learned to play bass guitar and started writing songs, all the while developing his distinctive folk-pop sound.

By the time he was 21, Ezra had signed a record deal with Columbia. He released the EP Did You Hear the Rain? and took fifth place on the BBC Sound Of 2014 list.

He truly burst onto the scene in the summer of 2014 when his single Budapest reached No.3 in the UK and charted in many other countries. His debut album Wanted On Voyage arrived soon after and spawned several other hits. This included Cassy O’, Blame It On Me and Barcelona. Not only did it reach No.1 on the UK albums chart and go four times platinum. It also became the third best-selling album of that year.

In 2015, Ezra made his US debut as the opening act on Sam Smith‘s In The Lonely Hour tour. This included a performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. He provided support during Hozier‘s North American tour dates.

Launching his own podcast

He launched his own podcast in early 2018 called George Ezra & Friends. On which he’s welcomed the likes of Smith along with Ed Sheeran and Elton John. As well as Rag’n’Bone ManTom Jones, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis and Niall Horan.

Ezra’s follow-up album Staying At Tamara’s was released in March 2018. It featured the top 10 singles ParadiseShotgun and Hold My Girl. Named after the Airbnb host where he’d stayed in Barcelona, the collection was also inspired by his travels. From the Isle of Skye as well as a cow shed in north Wales and a pig farm in Norfolk. Like its predecessor, Staying At Tamara’s reached No.1 on the UK album charts. As well as becoming the second biggest album of the year.

In 2019, Ezra played several huge UK arena dates in spring, appeared at Glastonbury and Latitude festivals in summer, and performed a couple of special shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall in autumn. Having been nominated multiple times over the years, he also took home his first BRIT Award for British Male Solo Artist.

In early 2022, Ezra announced a new album Gold Rush Kid, set for a June 10 release, along with a UK tour set to visit areas around the country in September and October.
