One Direction have announced three massive gigs in Glasgow’s SECC in 2013.
The British-Irish boyband, comprising Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have announced two massive gig in Glasgow’s SECC in February 2013, plus an extra gig in April 2013.
After applying initially as solo artists for the boys category but failing to qualify, the five teens were put into a band on the suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger. This allowed them to compete in the groups category, under their mentor Simon Cowell, and they were the final group to leave the competition.
They finished third on the seventh series of The X Factor, behind runner up Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle. Following The X Factor, the group signed a £2 million record contract with Syco, and participated in the X Factor Live Tour from February to April 2011.
Their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ was released in September 2011, and shot to no.1 on iTunes within 15 minutes of being released, achieving the highest week 1 sales of 2011, selling 153,965 copies.
‘One Direction: Forever Young’ was their first licensed publication and their second book, ‘Dare to Dream’ was released earlier this week. Both books instantly rocketed to no. 1 on the Sunday Times Bestseller List.
After months of fevered anticipation and levels of hysteria not witnessed for decades, One Direction, the UK’s most exciting new pop band, announce a string of live dates across the UK and Ireland at the beginning of 2013.
