Whitesnake the Hard rock and metal stalwarts with an impressive run of consecutive top 10 albums. Coming to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on the 12th May 2022.

After making his name as one of the lead singers of Deep Purple. As well as recording two solo albums (White Snake and Northwinds), vocalist and future Rock and Roll Hall of Famer David Coverdale formed Whitesnake in Middlesbrough in 1978.

The early line-ups featured several former Deep Purple members. As well as musicians from bands like Snafu, UFO and Streetwalkers. They quickly built a reputation on the hard rock scene. When Whitesnake released their debut album Trouble later that year, it landed at No.50 on the UK albums chart. With 1979’s follow-up Lovehunter climbing to the No.26 spot.

Whitesnake became massively successful in the ’80s off the back of huge hits like Here I Go Again. Is This Love? and Still Of The Night. During that decade they released six top 10 albums: 1980’s Ready An’ Willing, 1981’s Come An’ Get It and 1982’s Saints & Sinners. Not forgetting 1984’s Slide It In, 1987’s Whitesnake and 1989’s Slip Of The Tongue. The band were also known for their music videos which dominated MTV all around the globe.

Whitesnake spent much of 1990 travelling the globe on their Liquor & Poker World Tour. They also headlined the Monsters of Rock festival in the UK. When it all wrapped up, Coverdale, who was in the middle of divorcing Tawny Kitaen (the ginger-haired actress and dancer featured in many of their videos), announced he was calling it quits and taking an extended break.

In 1997, Whitesnake released their ninth album Restless Heart. Charting at No.34, Coverdale originally intended it to be a solo album. But label executives talked him into recording it under the moniker David Coverdale & Whitesnake.

Moving into the 00’s

The band continued to reunite for various tours and albums throughout the ’00s. Good To Be Bad arrived in 2008, followed by Forevermore in 2011. The Purple Album came out in 2015 and contained remakes of songs from the Deep Purple band line-ups when Coverdale was a member.

Whitesnake released their 13th album Flesh & Blood in 2019 and supported it with a performance at Download Festival that summer and a tour across 24 countries.

In 2020, Whitesnake unveiled The Red, White & Blues Trilogy featuring revisited, remixed and remastered versions of some of their greatest hits.

Having gone through numerous line-up changes over the years, the band currently is comprised of Coverdale with long-time drummer Tommy Aldridge, guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin and keyboardist Michelle Luppi. In addition, Croatian rocker singer, keyboardist and guitarist Dino Jelusić has also come on board.

Whitesnake announced they will release newly remastered and remixed deluxe editions of Restless Heart, along with previously unreleased demos and studio outtakes and a DVD including new interviews with Coverdale on 29 October 2021.

In July 2021, Whitesnake also revealed they would team up with Foreigner for a joint tour alongside special guests Europe in May 2022.
