UB40’s three founding members will head out on tour in early 2016, including one night in Glasgow’s O2 Academy!

British reggae act UB40 are back on tour in spring of next year, including one date in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on the 25th of April 2016!

Following their gig in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on the 8th of October 2015, the band have announced a huge UK tour in spring 2016, and will play one night in Glasgow’s .

Having wowed audiences stateside with a massive North American tour, UB40’s three founding members will be making a triumphant return to UK shores in 2016.

Proving they are still a worldwide tour de force, Britain’s biggest reggae band of all time will be satisfying demand for more UK shows.

During the tour, UB40 will perform classic hits and gems from their seminal albums’ ‘Labour Of Love Parts I & II’, two of the band’s most successful and defining albums. Between them, Labour of Love Parts I & II have had eight UK Top 20 Singles, including ‘Red, Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘The Way You Do The Things You Do’..

The Spring 2016 UK tour starts at the Newcastle City Hall on 26th April, taking in Manchester Apollo, London’s O2 Arena, Birmingham Barclaycard Arena, Brighton Centre, Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, finishing at the Plymouth Pavilions on 5th May. And of course they will play one night in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on the 25th of April 2016.

Since their early years playing in bars around Birmingham, UB40 have become one of the most commercially successful reggae acts of all time in terms of record sales (over 80 million), chart positions (more than 40 UK hit singles) and touring schedule.

Much of UB40’s commercial appeal came from their releases of classic cover songs. In fact, all three of their UK number one hits and four of their five U.S. top ten hits were cover versions including ‘Red, Red, Wine’, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and ‘I Got You Babe’. The band have released over twenty albums over the past 40 years, containing popular tunes such as ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Don’t Break My Heart’.

Since reforming in 2013, the trio of Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue have remained at the top of their game, with highlights including their 2014 World tour, a huge show in Las Vegas, and critical acclaim for their new material in 2014’s ‘Silhouette’.

Now embarking upon this huge UK Tour, the three-piece’s step up to even larger venues is a testament to the longevity of their songs, as well as UB40’s status as Britain’s most successful Reggae band of all time, a true music pioneer since 1979.
