The Specials have announced an 18 date UK tour throughout October and November 2016 and will play one gig in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on the 26th of October 2016!

The Specials were true musical pioneers during the era of punk and began the revival of ska in the UK.  Formed by songwriter/keyboardist Jerry Dammers in Coventry in 1977, the band donned their 60’s mod-style outfits, and managed to effortlessly infuse jaunty, danceable ska with the political and social observations of a very troubled late ‘70s Britain.

The band’s numerous instantly recognizable hits include ‘Too Much Too Young’, ‘Ghost Town’, ‘A Message To You, Rudy’ and ‘Do Nothing’.

Following a triumphant return at Bestival, The Specials reformed for their sold out 30th Anniversary Tour in 2009 to audiences packed with music lovers who had waited since 1981 to see the band perform again, alongside Specials ‘virgins’ who had never had the chance to see them live.  As part of this tour, The Specials performed live in 13 European countries, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

In October 2009, they picked up the Inspiration Award at the Q Awards, and then the Outstanding Contribution to Music at the NME Awards the following February.
