The Darkness have announced they will be heading back on tour, with one date in Glasgow’s O2 Academy this December.

The glam rockers will play a 14-date winter UK tour, beginning in Norwich and ending in London’s Roundhouse, with one night in Glasgow’s O2 Academy on the 5th of December!

Formed in 2000, The Darkness were characterised by their classic rock influences and elaborate stage performances.  The band consisted of Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham.

The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003.  Backed by the singles, ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’, ‘Growing on Me’, ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’, and ‘Love is Only a Feeling’, the album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales of over 1,200,000.

After touring in support of their debut album, Frankie Poullain left the band (via a window!) during recording of their second album, ‘Permission To Land’ in 2005.  Although it has since gone platinum, the album debuted at no. 11 in the UK album charts and quickly fell from it’s position just outside the top 10.

Due to some health concerns, Justin Hawkins left the band a year later after spending time in a rehabilitation clinic, and The Darkness was no more…

However, earlier in 2011 it was officially announced that The Darkness would reunite, with both Frankie and Justin back in their former positions.  They had a hugely successful reunion tour, with original bassist Frankie Poullain, including Download Festival 2011, and released their third studio album.

With their fourth studio album due out in June and a brand new drummer, Emily Dolan Davies, The Darkness are back and hitting the road, catsuits, moustaches and all.

Now they’re heading back out on tour again and will be playing Glasgow’s O2 Academy this December. Make sure you don’t miss out!
