Stephen Merchant is to announce his first ever stand-up tour tomorrow, with one night planned in Glasgow’s SECC this October.

Best known for his collaboration with Ricky Gervais as the co-creator and co-writer of The Office and Extras, and as the co-host of The Ricky Gervais Show, Stephen Merchant began his career performing stand-up.  In fact before he met Ricky Gervais, he had already made the finals of the 1998 Open Mic comedy awards.

And after a long period away from the stand-up scene the Emmy, BAFTA and Golden Globe award winner has recently been making a tentative return to performing, with unannounced performances on the stand-up circuit around London to prepare material for the new tour, which is to be called Hello Ladies…

He will perform 41 UK dates, beginning in Swindon on the 6th of September, and then ending the tour with a one-off in New York Town Hall on the 20th of December.
