South Lanarkshire Christmas Lights Swicth On 2013

The South Lanarkshire Christmas Lights switch on and festive celebrations will begin in Carluke on Friday 15 November and then continue through Lanark on the 16th, Rutherglen & Hamilton on the 23rd, Cambuslang on the 24th and finally East Kilbride on the 29th.

Carluke kicks things off on Friday 15 November, the town’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on just before 6pm following a fun afternoon of entertainment which gets underway at 3pm with Radio Clyde’s Gina McKie  hosting with a mix of music and prizes keeping the crowd entertained.

A Christmas Chartbusters Review Show, featuring popular festive hits, will warm the crowd up before the big finale which will see Provost Eileen Logan joined on stage by Santa and Gina McKie for the countdown to the switching on of the lights.

There will also be a mix and mingle balloon artist/magician entertaining the crowds throughout the afternoon. Snow is also guaranteed on the day, with the switching on of the lights triggering a fall of fake flakes. And festive music will be played as the crowds disperse.

Christmas lights switch-on events organised by the council will  be taking place at the following towns on the following dates:

  • Friday 15th November – Carluke– switch on 6pm
  • Saturday 16th November – Lanark – switch on 6pm
  • Saturday 23rd November  – Rutherglen – switch on 4.30pm
  • Saturday 23rd November – Hamilton – switch on 6pm
  • Sunday 24th November  – Cambuslang – switch on 4.30pm
  • Friday 29th November – East Kilbride – switch on 6pm
