Puccinis Il trittico the Scottish Opera, experiments with short-form opera to deliver comedy and drama. Coming to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal between the11th March 2023 to 18th March 2023.

World-renowned director Sir David McVicar returns to Scottish Opera with Puccini’s epic triptych – Il tabarro. Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi – in a first both for him and the Company.

Performed by a full cast and orchestra. They also feature a narrator to take you through the story and introduce the music from the opera. There are wheelchair spaces and extra staff on hand to help. There is also a smaller capacity to allow everyone space. As well as brighter lighting levels in the auditorium, giving you the flexibility and freedom to move about as required.

So whether you’re living with dementia, recovering from an operation, have Long Covid, or are simply anxious about coming back to the theatre post pandemic. You can relax and enjoy everything opera has to offer.

Gianni Schicchi – one of the three one-act operas that together make up the epic triptych Il trittico, which will also be performed in full at Theatre Royal Glasgow. It follows a dysfunctional family caught in the snare of a shameless conman. With Puccini’s music, including the favourite O mio babbino caro, creating its own vivid sound world. Here it is presented as an Access performance for those who would enjoy a more relaxed opera experience.
