Rex Orange County
When: 2nd and 3rd August 2022
Rex Orange County is the UK bedroom pop star who has announced three new UK shows for 2022. Coming to Glasgow’s SWG3 between 2nd and 3rd August 2022.
Rex Orange County is Alex O’Connor, a Hampshire-born singer-songwriter with a reputation for quirky pop that incorporates influences across a spread of genres. As a teenager, O’Connor taught himself the drums and earned a spot at London’s prestigious BRIT School.
While still a teenager, O’Connor created a buzz with his self-recorded and produced bcos you will never be free album. His follow-up Apricot Princess arrived in 2017, building on the hype and breaking Rex Orange County across the Atlantic. Tyler, the Creator became a fan and invited O’Connor to collaborate on two songs on 2017’s Flower Boy.
The following year started brightly with Rex Orange County finishing second to Sigrid in BBC’s Sound Of 2018 poll. A year later, he teased his third album with the singles ‘New House’ and ‘10/10’. PONY arrived in October 2019 to widespread acclaim as O’Connor expanded his musical repertoire to impressive ends.
The ensuing tour was cut short by Covid, leading O’Connor to throw himself into writing and recording, heading to Amsterdam to record with Benny Sings. The result was WHO CARES?, set for release in March 2022.
