Scottish rockers Mogwai are back on tour & will play two hometown gigs in the Glasgow Barrowlands in June 2015.

Scottish post-rock heroes Mogwai have announced special 20th anniversary shows in Glasgow’s Barrowlands on the 20th and 21st June 2015.

Mogwai were formed in the Glasgow living room of Stuart Braithwaite’s parents in June 1995. 20 years later, to the week, they will play a two-night residency at the legendary Barrowlands in their home city of Glasgow, and at London’s Roundhouse, to celebrate their 20 years together as a band, and two decades of breaking noise curfews worldwide!

Mogwai originally comprisedStuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), John Cummings (guitar, computer), Dominic Aitchison (bass) and Martin Bulloch (drums), with Barry Burns (keyboard, computer, guitar) joining the band later.

The band debuted in February 1996 with the ‘Tuner’/’Lower’ single and by the end of the year they received single of the week from NME for ‘Summer’, a feat repeated early in 1997 with ‘New Paths to Helicon’.

Since their formation, they have released 8 studio albums, 6 of which peaked within the UK top 40, and 13 extended play albums.

Their recently released critically acclaimed eighth studio album Rave Tapas was their first to crack the UK top 10. Rave Tapes features the wonderfully named ‘Simon Ferocious’, ‘Remurdered’ and ‘The Lord is Out of Control’. The album spurred a worldwide sell out tour, including two shows at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

But Rave Tapas was not the only success of 2014 for Mogwai. Summer 2014 saw a comprehensive deluxe edition of their seminal 1999 album Come On Die Young via Chemikal Underground and headline sets on stages at Glastonbury and Latitude, amongst others, before the latest in their career-spanning set of stunning EPs, Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1, closed out the year.

Mogwai gigs are invariably spectacular. They will certainly celebrate their 20th anniversary with what we can only assume will be a string of career-spanning audio-visual spectaculars.

Tickets will sell fast, so make sure you don’t miss it!
