Scottish DJ Calvin Harris has been announced as the first headline act at Glasgow Summer Sessions in Bellahouston Park this summer!
Global star Calvin Harris, famous for tracks such as Outside, Under Control and We Found Love, has been announced as the first headline act of Glasgow Summer Sessions 2015, as the city music festival returns to Bellahouston Park in August. He will take the outdoor stage on Sunday, the 30th August.
The Scottish singer, songwriter, record producer and DJ released his first gold-selling debut album, I Created Disco, in 2007. The album contained the top-ten singles, Acceptable in the 80s and The Girls.
Since his 2007 debut, Calvin Harris has dominated charts across the world. He has released 3 further albums: Ready For The Weekend & 18 Months both reached no. 1 in the UK album charts, and Motion (2014) peaked at no. 2 in the UK album charts. He has had 16 top ten UK singles and 5 UK no. 1’s.
Harris has written and produced tracks for artists such as Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Ellie Goulding, and has surpassed Michael Jackson in holding the record for most Top 10 hits from one studio album when nine tracks from his third album, 18 Months, made the charts.
Last year’s Summer Sessions saw US superstars, The Killers, and DJs David Guetta and Steve Angello perform to over 100,000 people at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park across three dates.
Harris will be supported by Ellie Goulding who topped the charts recently with Love Me Like You Do from the Fifty Shades Of Grey film soundtrack. Also announced as support are John Newman, who sang with Calvin on hit song Blame, techno-funk group Disciples and nu-disco artist Burns.
He joins fellow Scot Paolo Nutini on the bill for this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions with the rock star headlining the previous day, the 29th August, along with Jamaican music legend Grace Jones.
Calvin Harris previously played two sell out gigs in Glasgow’s Hydro Arena, and has toured the world playing his chart topping tracks. This will be an amazing gig, so don’t miss out – make sure you get your tickets soon!
