Girl from the North Country is a musical with a book by Conor McPherson using the songs of Bob Dylan. Coming to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal between 13th – 17th September 2022.

Celebrated playwright Conor McPherson (The Weir, The Seafarer) boldly reimagines the legendary songs of Bob Dylan. They are like you’ve never heard them before, in Girl From The North Country. A heart-breaking and universal story about family and love. Hailed by the Observer as the “NO.1 THEATRE SHOW OF THE YEAR”.

It’s 1934 in the heartland of America and we meet a group of wayward souls. Who cross paths in a time-weathered guesthouse. Standing at a turning point in their lives, they realize nothing is what it seems. But as they search for a future, and hide from the past, they find themselves facing unspoken truths about the present.

Now audiences in the UK have the chance to experience this “magnificent” (Standard), “astonishing” (Guardian) and “piercingly beautiful” (Independent) production brought vividly to life by an extraordinary company of actors and musicians.

  1. Witnessing the interpretation of Bob Dylan’s songs in the brilliant ‘Girl from the North Country’ was as memorable an experience in theatre as is possible. All of it spectacular. The singing of all performers being outstanding.
This was in Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. 15th September.
Unfortunately, the song within the title was not performed. Hard to comprehend, and disappointing as this song is extremely important to us.
Is there a reason for its omission?

    1. Hi Maggie

Glad to hear you had such a good time at “Girl from the North Country”. We always appreciate when our customers come back with high praise. Unfortunately we cannot answer your question. This is a question for the shows writers.
