British reggae act UB40 are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Signing Off” with a tour of intimate venues across the UK in autumn 2010, including one date in Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall in November.
Since the release of this album, and since their early years playing in bars around Birmingham, UB40 have become one of the most commercially successful reggae acts of all time in terms of record sales (over 80 million), chart positions (more than 40 UK hit singles) and touring schedule.
Much of UB40′s commercial appeal came from their releases of classic cover songs. In fact, all three of their UK number one hits and four of their five U.S. top ten hits were cover versions including ‘Red, Red, Wine’, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and ‘I Got You Babe’.
Since forming in the late seventies UB40 have released over twenty albums containing popular tunes such as ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Don’t Break My Heart’.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their debut album, “Signing Off”, Ub40 will be performing the whole album live. In addition to performing “Signing Off” in its entirety, UB40 will perform a second set on the evening featuring some of the bands most loved tracks.
With their massive backlog and their fantastic track record of putting on great gigs, don’t miss your chance to see Britains best loved reggae act!
