Join Scottish Opera’s new Music Director Stuart Stratford as he takes to the stage for a series of Sunday afternoon concerts with The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and three fabulous guest singers.
Stuart Stratford conducts with singers Barry Banks, Iain Paterson and Kate Royal in a series of wonderful Sunday afternoon concerts in October 2015, February and May 2016 in Glasgow’s Theatre Royal!
This new series is curated, conducted and hosted by Music Director Stuart Stratford. Featuring three exceptional guest singers, and with each afternoon’s repertoire chosen and presented by Stuart himself, they promise drama, emotion, romance and, most importantly, stunning music.
The Italian Masters with Barry Banks

From Rossini’s thrilling William Tell overture to stratospheric Donizetti and little-known gems from Mascagni, our October concert showcases the drama and the passion of the Italian operatic masters. Tenor Barry Banks joins the orchestra, performing a programme of some of opera’s greatest showpieces.

Mozart and Richard Strauss with Kate Royal

Lyric soprano Kate Royal joins the orchestra in May for some of Mozart’s most beautiful operatic writing, and Richard Strauss’s most sublime lieder. Exploring the influence Mozart had on Strauss’s work, this last concert ends with his rousingly romantic, sumptuous Der Rosenkavalier Suite.
