The princess of country pop is coming to Scotland for the very first time, and will kick off her UK tour in Glasgow’s Hydro Arena in June 2015!

Global superstar Taylor Swift announced her massive upcoming tour, The 1989 World Tour, on Good Morning America earlier this week.

The UK leg of The 1989 World Tour will kick off on the 23rd June 2015 in Glasgow at The SSE Hydro Arena. And yes, this will be Taylor’s first ever live show in Scotland!

The now seven-time Grammy winner released her first, and self-titled, album in 2006, firmly establishing her as a country music star. With her third single, ‘Our Song’, she became the youngest person to write and perform a no. 1 song on the Hot Country Songs chart in the US. Since then, she has released a further four studio albums, all of which have reached top ten (and two were no. 1) in the UK album charts, three live albums, thirty three singles, including thirteen UK top 40 singles, and thirty four music videos.

Taylor’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album, 1989 topped iTunes’ sales charts in 95 countries on its release and was the highest selling first week release of 2014 in the US. In the UK 1989 debuted at no 1 in the official album charts, selling more than all the other albums in the top 5 combined, and selling more in its first week here than any other female artist’s album this year.

The young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is a global superstar, and the youngest winner in history of the music industry’s highest honour, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. She is the only artist in music history to have an album (2010’s Speak Now, 2012’s RED and 2014’s 1989) hit the 1 million plus first-week sales figure three times in the US. She is the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist in history) to log six or more weeks at no. 1 in the US with three consecutive studio albums. Taylor has an album on Rolling Stone’s prestigious The 50 Greatest Albums of All Time (by women) list, Time magazine has named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the world, and she is Billboard’s youngest-ever Woman of the Year and the only artist to have been awarded this honour twice. Phew! She’s certainly a talented, and busy little lady.

This is her first even show in Scotland, so make sure you get your tickets to see her live soon!
