Squeeze have announced they will be touring their new album ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’ and will play at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall for one night in October 2015.

Classic British pop band Squeeze have announced their first tour for more than three years, with one Scottish date at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for just one night on the 23rd of October 2015.

Squeeze first formed in 1974, shortly after Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had begun their songwriting partnership, brought together by an ad in a sweetshop window.

By 1977 they had made their recording debut and enjoyed a string of hits which lasted until 1982, the maturity of their songs outliving their initial burst of chart activity on the back of New Wave.

Over the years there have been solo careers and occasional separations, but the Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriting duo Chris and Glenn got back together eight years ago to relaunch Squeeze.

From The Cradle To The Grave Tour will see the band – comprising Glenn Tilbrook, Chris Difford, John Bentley, Simon Hanson and Stephen Large – bring along special guest Dr John Cooper Clarke while many of the songs from the album of the same name will provide the soundtrack to a new TV comedy, Cradle To Grave.

The Cradle To Grave series is based on the life of their old friend Danny Baker, who spoke about his cancer diagnosis in 2014. The eight-part run, set in the 1970s, is an adaptation of Baker’s autobiography Going To Sea In a Sieve and he has co-written the programmes with award-winning scriptwriter and producer/director Jeff Pope. The show will also star Peter Kay.

Their forthcoming album From The Cradle To The Grave will mark their first new album of material in 17 years. You will hear many of the songs from this album in their tour, but with a vast catalogue of hits such as Labelled With Love, Cools For Cats, Up The Junction and Tempted, you will no doubt be treated to some of these when you go along to see them!

Their gig in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on the 23rd of October will be an intimate one, and tickets are likely to sell very fast, so make sure you get yours soon!
