One of Britain’s most successful bands, Simply Red, are back on tour, and will be stopping for one night in Glasgow’s Hydro Arena.
Simply Red are back together on tour for the first time since 2010 for their 30th anniversary tour!
It makes you out of breath to list their achievements throughout the years: since their first tour in 1985, Simply Red have played over 1,100 shows to over 11 million people, selling over 50 million records and have received 3 BRIT Awards, 2 Ivor Novellos, 2 US no. 1 singles, a MOBO Special Achievement award, and have had more than 31 top 40 UK singles.
Their first single in 1985, ‘Money’s Too Tight (To Mention)’, had massive international success and reached the top 30 in America, France and the Netherlands, top 20 in the UK and Ireland, and top 5 in Italy.
They set out on their first UK university/club tour in 1985 and quickly graduated to Europe and the USA. By 1987 Simply Red had captured the hearts of New Zealand and Australia, and in 1989 they toured South America and Japan for the first time. By 1990 the band had become a global arena act and have continued at that level for the past 20 years: 2009’s Greatest Hits tour notched up a further 1 million people across the World.
