25th November 2009
Location: SECC, Glasgow
Lily Allen will be bringing her own unique style and music to Glasgow’s SECC for one night, this November.
A pop star full of bubbly attitude, Lily Allen’s rapid rise to success is fully justified. Brit Award nominated debut album ‘Alright, Still’ is packed full of earnest and hilarious pop gems and won Lily an army of fans.
‘Alright, Still’ was the first studio album of the singer, and its first mainstream single, entitled ‘Smile’, earned the no. 1 spot on the UK Singles Chart, while the debut record was well received on the international market, selling over 2.6 million copies and brought Allen a nomination at the Grammy Awards, BRIT Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.
Her second major release, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ which spawned the hit single ‘The Fear’, saw a genre shift for Lily, having more of an electropop feel, rather than the ska and reggae influences of the first one. The album debuted at no. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and the Australian ARIA Charts and was appreciated by the critics, noting the singer’s musical evolution and maturity.
Lily is most definitely an artist to see live, aside from her great tunes you may also get to witness some of Lily’s searingly honest rants and humourous asides.
