The Subway Festival

Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th May

Admission: The cost of a subway ticket gets you to all of the underground performances.  Other event costs vary.  See Subway Festival website for details.

The Glasgow Subway Festival is back once again for two days of brilliant fun, with events, offers and performance above and below ground.

From a petting zoo to breakdance & beatbox workshops, a ski slope, a farmer’s market, choirs and carnival tunes, cutting edge fashion, petting zoo, unique theatre pieces, art installations and aerial shows, there is definitely more than one something for everyone.

On Train Underground Performances

Running from 10am – 8pm on Saturday and from 10am – 5pm on Sunday, there will be a variety of great performances taking place on every train in the network.  There will ALWAYS be a performance on the last car of every train and at off-peak times (10am – 12 noon and 5pm – 8pm) there will be a performance on the first and last car of every train.  Between the hours of 10am and 3pm each day, there will be performances for families; some might be silly, some magical and some will even be a little scary, but all will put a smile on your face!  All you have to do is buy a ticket for the underground, jump on a train, and enjoy the ride.

What’s On Overground

Many of the Subway Festival events occur near subway stations around the city.  Some highlights include:

  • Wild Life in Kinning Park:  Excellent for the kids (and big kids).  Located next to Kinning Park subway from 10am – 4pm each day, you can make your own wild animal to take home, pet and handle amazing animals, or even launch your own rocket.  (Free admission).
  • Subway Festival Markets:  Located in Dowanhill Primary School, near to Hillhead subway station, you can enjoy delicious food at Scotland’s largest farmers market on the Saturday, and then on the Sunday you can find some great bargains at the Subway Fashion Fayre.  (Free admission).
  • Spinal Chord Aerial Show:  Amazing aerial performances that will take your breath away.  Only on at 12.30pm, 2.00pm, 4.00pm on Sunday 24th May.  Performances will take place at the Partick Interchange forecourt.  (Free admission).

Underground Treasure Hunt

The Subway is full of bunnies!  But it’s not Easter…  It’s the Glasgow Subway Festival!  The Subway mascot, Boo, has lost some of his friends and relatives around town.  If you help him out, you could win a two day adventure break at Crieff Hydro for your family or you and a friend.  Pick up a form from Buchanan Street station from Monday 17th May or download it from the Subway Festival website and get cracking those clues right away!

There are many more events and workshops for your entertainment.  To find out what else is on, or for further information on any of the events listed above simply visit the Subway festival website.
