With 11 days of premieres, celebrity guests, family events and more, the Glasgow Film Festival is the best place to see exciting and innovative films, old and new.
2011 marks the eighth annual Glasgow Film Festival, during which the GFF will see screenings of exceptional films and inspiring events. With more movies, more parties, more galas, more guests and more ways to spend little money on lots of fun, the GFF has something for everyone!
The festival takes place in 11 venues throughout Glasgow, including the enormous Cineworld cinema, the beautiful Glasgow Film Theatre, Glasgow Tramway and The Arches. The film selection has been divided into several strands in an attempt to make it easier to find the movies that will interest the viewers. These include “Frightfest” (self explanatory!), “Great Scots” (celebrating home-grown talent), “European Cinema” (embracing the finest French cinema, the choicest German dramas, visionary work from Italy and the raw realities of life in Poland) and “Out of the Past” (classic films rediscovered).
There are also a few festivals within the festival: The Youth Film Festival and The Shorts Film Festival, both of which promise to be quite exciting this year.
To see full listings of what movies and events are on where, visit the GFF website.
Whether you are a passionate cineaste, a casual filmgoer, or even looking to break into the industry, you are certain to find something to tickle your fancy at this year’s Glasgow Film Festival!
