George Benson

2nd July 2012

Location:  Clyde Auditorium

Tickets:  £49.75 – £55

George Benson has announced that he will be heading to the UK this summer for a number of arena dates, with one night in Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium.

The soulful and jazzy singer/guitarist rose to commercial success in the UK with the release of his 1983 album ‘In Your Eyes’.  This led to the UK’s rediscovery of his earlier material, including his previous 1980 album which marked the crossover stage where his soulful voice started to take centre stage: ‘Give Me the Night’.

In the US, he had been a star in the jazz world since his early collaborations with brother Jack McDuff, providing the jazzy riffs to Jack’s organ and vocal skills, with his later releases ‘Bad Benson’, ‘Breezin’ and ‘In Flight’ topping the US jazz charts in the 70′s.  Breezin’ even topped the US pop charts in 1974 which even the more commercial ‘In Your Eyes’ failed to do.

Never one to stand still, he has continued to work with the greats of the music world, with the majority of his recent output still topping the US jazz chart, including the more recent albums ‘Givin’ it Up’ (2006) and ‘Songs and Stories’ (2009).

Benson’s upcoming tour is in support of his latest album, ‘Guitar Man’, which was released late 2011.

Tickets go on sale Friday 24th February at 9am.  Make sure you get yours early, because this one will be popular!!!
