The Rocketman is back! Elton John has announced he will play his only Scottish live show of upcoming tour at Glasgow’s SECC on 10th June.
Elton John is one of the most successful artists of all time with global record sales of over 200 million. And he will make his triumphant return to the city of Glasgow for his first show in Scotland since 2009′s tour.
After a week where he released a new album that entered the charts across the globe in the top ten, a critically acclaimed performance at the Electric Proms with special guests Leon Russell, Plan B and Rumer, Elton John has announced he will play two warm up shows next summer, in Cardiff and then Glasgow, before playing 3 special stadium shows throughout England.
Elton will perform over two hours of hits from an incredible back catalogue spanning over four decades which includes more than 30 Top 40 UK albums, more than 60 Top 40 UK singles and numerous no. 1 hits. The show is likely to include such classics as ‘Your Song’, ‘The Bitch is Back’, ‘Are You Ready For Love’, ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ and ‘Daniel’.
During the show you are also likely to hear tracks from his new, critically acclaimed album ‘The Union’ with Leon Russell which entered the UK Top 40 at no. 12 and the US Billboard album charts at no. 3 and has received rave reviews.
This new Glasgow date will mark his eighth appearance in a little over a decade at the SECC, with combined ticket sales in excess of 65,000.
Elton has a tradition of introducing the hottest new acts at his live shows. In 2007, he invited Glasgow’s own Amy Macdonald to support him, and in 2009 Pearl and the Puppets were his special guests.
