Wagamama is a chain of Japanese-style noodle bars, modelled on traditional Japanese ramen bars that have been popular for hundreds of years in Japan.

As you would expect from a noodle bar, most of their dishes are noodle based. Soup dishes include a selection of ramen (gargantuan bowls of noodle soup) are hearty and satisfying meals, and the range of kare noodle (noodles in coconut based soup) are absolutely delicious. Chilli men (noodles in a spicy sauce) are a great choice for those able to stand a little more spice, and teppan (noodles cooked on a hot, flat griddle) are simply scrumptious.
And if you fancy something other than noodles, Wagamama also offer delicious alternatives such as the katsu curry (chicken fillet deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs, served with a lightly spiced curry sauce and sticky white rice) or cha han (stir-fried rice with egg, chicken, prawns and vegetables, served with a bowl of miso soup and pickles). Side dishes include the delicious gyoza (chicken dumplings), asparagus spears, miso soup and ebi katsu (tiger prawns in breadcrumbs). And you can wash down your meal with sake, plum wine, green tea or even a Japanese beer.
Vegetarians are beautifully catered for in Wagamama, with a good selection of noodle dishes, rice dishes and side dishes.
Wagamama is more about eating healthy food fast and less about the order. In fact it isn’t unusual to be served your main course before the side dish – the order isn’t important; the aim is don’t wait – just tuck in! The restaurant chain does not believe in taking reservations, and all customers are seated on a first come, first serve basis. In fact, be aware that most of the tables are long ones and you will often be asked to share them.
If you love the Wagamama philosophy and food, you can also shop for cook books, sauces and ramen bowls at Wagamama restaurants (and at http://www.wagamama.com).
