Situated smack bang in the centre of Glasgow in the old GPO building on George Square, Jamie’s Italian is one of Glasgow’s newest, and most talked about restaurants.
Serving fresh pasta and quality ingredients Jamie’s aims to bring affordable, great quality Italian food to everyone.
Jamie’s Italian, *Average price based on a 2 course meal from the a la carte menu for 2 people
Was at Jamies last week with a few friends. We were made to wait outside for about 15 minutes, and then wait at the bar inside for another hour (even though it didn’t seem too busy) so by the time we got our table we had already had quite a bit of wine. Unfortunately this means I can’t reliably comment on the food because of the wine and the fact that I was rather hungry when the food finally came. A good night out, but we’d have had just as good a time in quite a few of the other Italian restaurants in Glasgow, and we’d have most likely got our food a bit sooner too…
I am a huge fan of Jamie Oliver and when I heard he had a resturant opening up in Glasgow, I obviously had to try it. It is one my favourite resturants in the city centre of Glasgow now, the food is amazing along with the service. Obviously the name gives it away, it’s an italian resturant with a lovely wide range of different types of dishes, theres no pizza on the menu which is surprising being an italian resturant but this didn’t not bother me in the slighest. The lamb chop lollipops are to die for, really delicious, I had the funky chips on the side which are amazing, I could have ordered another portion but didn’t want to be greedy. I definitely recommend this resturant and I will be sure to go back again.
My husband, sister in law, brother in law, and myself went to Jamies Italian a few weeks ago for my husbands 30th birthday. We all thought the service was great, the waitress was very pleasan, neat and tidy. The food was mouthwatering and worth the wait. I had a crab bruschetta to start and one of the most delisius pastas I have tried which was lingine with prawns and tomatoes in a lovely tomato sauce with chillie and basil (highly recomended). The place was lovely decorated and very welcoming, and child friendly. The prices were fantastic and not at all what we expected, considering there was four of us. All in all I would highly recomend this restaurant to everyone. We all left feeling very happy, stuffed and delighted.
A few weeks after it opened, I went there with 3 others. From the moment you approached the door, the staff were very attentive and pleasant. Smartly dressed too. Was shown to my seat, offered the menu and drinks right away by our own personal waiter.
We all ordered different things, so we could have a try of eachothers. From steak to pasta to burgers, the varied menu caught all of our eyes.
The meal didn’t take long and was worth the wait. Not too much on the plates, but it was enough we all agreed.
A 3 course for 4 of us plus one or 2 rounds of soft drinks cost around £80. Not bad for city centre prices.
I’d definitely recommend it.
Nothing bad can be said about this restaurant!
The whole night, the ambiance of the place, the food, the wine, everything was the best i have ever had. I would recommend the place to everyone looking for a fantasic meal!
we went along for a girls night out; the waiter made us feel very special and the place was clean and welcoming albeit very rustic. We ordered the platters to share which were a bit dssapointing in portion size and imagination; but the prawn linguine was spot on and the price was roughly £160 for four of us, with winw and coffee thrown in. Wouldn’t rush back but would recommend to try
If you are looking for great food with added celebrity ‘wow’ factor, then Jamie’s Italian is for you. We received a warm welcome at the door and were shown straight to a table, where we could look out on George Square. The decor is trendy and stylish, with plastic chairs that may not appeal to older diners, comfy seats however are found in the booth style areas. The menu is small but should appeal to most diners, and has the added option of a small or large pasta portions. Our waitress was full of fun, efficent and happy to recommend dishes. Be warned, the small pasta portions are very small – but delicious. The burger in contrast, was huge. Overall, it was a delicious meal, made even better by the setting. Attention to detail is seen in every corner and you could feel Jamie’s presence. Only large parties can book in advance which makes planning a bit tricky. Only downside for me was the amount of garlic in each dish. Not a restaurant to visit if you are not a garlic lover…………
I went there last night with my family and it was so good. The place is always packed and you can’t book which is a bit of a pain but we managed to get a table ok.
Because it is always busy the atmosphere is great, its buzzing. You feel like you are not in Glasgow, it feels more like a London restaurant which is a good thing I think.
I had the burger and it was amazing, it comes piled up high on the plate and has everything in it. It doesnt come with chips but you can order them as a side dish and they are very tasty.
The service is good and although the place was full the food did not take too long to come. The staff are great and there are lots of them! I would recommend a visit!
I just recently visited Jamies Italian Restaurant within the last few weeks. As it was both myself and my husbands 40th we were given £80 worth of gift vouchers in order that we could go out as a family. We decided to have a family day out with the children and would go there for lunch, as we were all looking forward to going. On arrival we were told that there would be a 40 minute wait and we could go downstairs and wait at the bar and we found out the cost of the drinks were very high, especially when you have 3 children. We had only got our jackets off and sat down when we were told our table was ready.
Firstly there was not a great variety of dishes, certainly not for the children. My youngest ordered the burger which was over cooked and the roll was very dry, she did not eat it. I had the bolognese which was not very special and was surprised you could not get garlic bread, but could order about 6 varieties of chips. I had to give some of my dinner to my youngest. The rest of the family were not pleased either as their dinner was dry and tasteless. We ordered another round of soft drinks and it is the first time I could not wait to get out of the place.
The meal was very expensive for a family of five for one course and felt that the menu did not cater very well for a family. The place itself was new and comfy but not special. Needless to say we did not get any change from the £80, which in the past I have went on many family meals, had a better time and would go back and feel as though I have had my monies worth. I definitely will not be going back and do not know what the big fuss was about this place, very disappointing and will not hold back if anyone asks.
Took the kids along on sunday afternoon early so there was wait. Food was expensive but was nice dining experience and atmosphere felt relaxed and family friendly. Kids loved the menu which was a view finder with dish pictures to pick from. Not a lot of space between the tables but most city centre busy restaurants are like this now.
Service was good and food was very nice even though it was basically pasta for my husband and burger for me. Kids had same kids burger and tom pasta which they enjoyed. Would recommend to others and go back perhaps for a special occassion.
