Situated smack bang in the centre of Sauchiehall St, one of Glasgows busiest streets, Henglers Circus is always filled to the seams with locals. As part of the J.D. Wetherspoon group which is one of the largest pub chains in the UK, Henglers Circus is well known among Glaswegians for it’s cheap alcohol and pub food.

The food menu contains everything you might expect, such as breakfasts, burgers, baked potatoes, pastas and salads, along with a large range of “main meals” (as they call them). These include fish & chips, scampi, cottage pie, chicken tikka masala and chilli con carne, as well as roast dinners, pies, and lasagne. There are also a good few vegetarian options, so there really is something for everyone on the menu. The food is not fancy or “home-made” – the food menu is the same in all of the Wetherspoons pubs. But for a satiating pub lunch or dinner, it definitely does the job.
Henglers Circus also have a good kids menu, with quite a few different choices for the wee ones. A word of warning though – kids aren’t allowed in later on in the evening, so don’t try and go for a late dinner with them.
They also sell a massive range of drinks, including real ale, its commitment to which is regularly critically acclaimed. As suc, you will find that the clientele in many Wetherspoons pubs are determined by this range of reasonably priced ales and beers. Do not let this deter you from Henglers Circus though; for me, many a fine night out has begun there.
So, in summary, if you’re looking for some tasty, cheap and cheerful pub grub, then this is a good place to start. Particularly since the beer is also pretty decent.
