Recently dined here with some friends on a Friday evening, place was full. I would say the food was fine, rather than fine dining. Service and staff were both excellent, extremely knowledgeable and professional. Now for the but…..I wasn’t impressed by the beer menu in the bar, prior to getting our table, felt the choice was limited, However did discover a nice shiraz for just over £17. Starters were lukewarm, some had sold out, It was 8pm, mains (steak) were fine, few teething problems with the sides but other than that, it was fine…overall, I would return, decor is nice, however, not so sure on the dance music being piped into the restaurant.

Had bought a KGB deal for £19 for 4 people (worth apparently £79) – included was 5 course meal and karaoke. The food was nice when we eventually got it. They were only interested in us buying the very overpriced drink (no draft beer). It cost us £13.25 for 2 bottles of beer, a bottle of Magners and a diet coke! We were in and hour before we got our poppodums; I complained because we were still waiting on our pakora – however when we did get it it was fresh and delicious; there was 2 chicken chats but the deal was for 4 so my husband asked how we were expected to share them, haha. They brought us more! Mains were nice but not much rice. Dessert was also included but we left as they were getting served and we gave them to the girls sitting at the next table. Will I go back – a BIG FAT NO – well disappointed at the length of time it took for the meal to come AND it said on the deal it was a buffet and it wasn’t. A well mis-sold deal

I have frequented here a few times I go for the food alone..

I find the manager to be extremly rude. On a few occasions ive saw him speak to the staff badly which is a shame because they make excellent food and give great service.

Had a great lunch in this small Italian restaurant, which I will definitely return to. Quality, portions, price and friendliness make this place a winner. What more can you ask for?

Was lucky enough to get a groupon voucher for this restaurant, wasn’t sure what to expect. The meal was amazing, the staff attentive. I had a main of roast pork belly and it literally melted, superb. The deserts didn’t fail to delight either. I may have come across it by chance, but I will definately be back.

The Black Sparrow is usually our port of call before any gig in the SECC or pre-Kings-theatre meal. It is usually a great pub, serving up really nice food.

However the last time we were there was just a few weeks ago on a Saturday night and I was not impressed. My 2 main complaints were as follows:

The starter I ordered was chorizo and potato salad, which came with greasy wedges instead of new potatoes, and a rubbery egg dumped in the middle of the plate. I’ve had the same dish once before, and it was much nicer the first time.

We usually sit upstairs, but this time we had to sit downstairs next to the bar, and it was just smelly. Stale beer is not the best overwhelming scent when trying to eat your dinner. Maybe it’s because I’ve never sat down there before, but it seems that standards that night had gone downhill rather a lot.

Come on Sparra – you can do better than that.

Can’t complain about anything in Tony Romas. Have been a few times now with family and it’s a great place to eat. Portions are quite colossal, but we just make sure we’re hungry before we go!

Delicious.
