  1. 2011 event

The processes involved in your allocation of tickets for this event was ab absolute disaster. Lack of people manning phones or possible no-one manning phones. A number that was not answered for over 1 hour if you were unfortunate enough to get the message,’ We have been unable to confirm your payment details and consequently your booking request has not been completed. The most common reasons are:’ etc ‘ but we will keep your tickets. This has never happened to me before and i often purchase tickets and products on line, though not from ticket -soup (Surprisingly) When i eventually did get through – (possibly on and off 1 hour or so). The tickets had not in fact been had not in fact been kept. Possibly a con to encourage people to call the number. If i have been charged for this service I demand a refund, never mind the waste of a day waiting for the phone to be answered. As usual an absolute joke. If you cannot provide an adequate service for this event why do you continue to attempt to do it?

And then the email you attempt to send cannot be sent. How convenient.. I’ll try again.

  2. Well, First of all I did everything I could to get tickets this year. Signed up to Our Glasgow for the newsletter, set reminders via email from the website, signed up to ticketsoup website to become a member. Clicked on booked tickets dead on 9am, said I was placed in a queue, please be patient etc etc……waited for over two hours not refreshing the page coz it said not to. Sitting like a right idiot, tried going on the website via my phone, and wait for it….good old TICKETSOUP web page has crashed.

Complete and utter joke to be honest, and you couldnt get through on the phoneline either.

Come on Ticketsoup, your meant to be able to organise and sell the event, not fall flat on your face and crash under the demand.

Gutted and disappointed cause now the event will be sold out.

    Total joke.

  3. Hi, After missing out on last years Big Switch on I fully intend to queue at the Ticketsoup Box office. Does anyone know roughly how long prior to 9am people start queing?
    Many Thanks.

    1. yet another waste of time trying to get tickets from ticketsoup. sat for 5 minutes refreshing my screen before tickets went on sale and clicked on book tickets within seconds of it appearing and got nowhere.

  4. Hi, Can you advise when this years tickets will go on sale? I have just received this months newsletter and nothing is on it and am worried that I will miss them as its only a month away. Thanks

  5. It’s 2011 and the big Christmas lights switch on is now only a few weeks off.

All comments below this one were for previous year’s switch on. If you have read any of them then you will know that the George Square Christmas lights switch is a very popular event. Every year there are disappointed people who have missed out on tickets.

If you want to give yourself the best chance of getting tickets this year, stay tuned to Our Glasgow or sign up for our mailing list and we will keep you updated on all the details you need know.

I must stress though that it is Glasgow City Council that run the event – not us!

If you have any questions please leave a comment below and we will try and answer.

  6. this years ticket situation was a pure joke! after waiting in the long que 1st thing on a sat morning ticketsoup posted them to the wrong address and the tickets where returned. i received a phone call about a week and a half before the event to inform me and they refused to post them back out even tho i explained i had college and work. i had to take a morning off to collect them and was advised they would be ready for collection. when i got there they were not only rude but the tickets were not even in the office. wich made me late for an exam. when ariving at the square at 10 past 6 as was working before hand. with children in buggies they sent us a detour around the full square saying next gate, next gate by the time we arrived they said to late and did not let us enter. when we asked why they said safty because of the fireworks. once fireworks were done my friend asked if we could go in so the kids could see the lights we were refused. it has became a pure joke how they have started handiling events. there was a whole bunch of people with children standing at the gates with tickets and being refused. what a nice way for glasgow council to start off the festive season.

    1. It says that “only ticket holders will be permitted access to George Square, all adults children and babies in prams require a ticket to enter George Square”.

To me that sounds like babies would be allowed in, providing they are not in prams. I would check with Glasgow City Council though – You don’t want to turn up with your baby and get sent away.

    2. Rebeca your child will need a ticket for this event unfortunately. My wife and i took our son last year when he was 1 and had to supply a ticket for him.

  7. I am really angry that i cant get tickets 2 treat my little ones 2 a nice magical time out for the utter cheek of scamming tramps wantin 2 make money off of a free event for the ppl !

Wish there was a way they could get those tickets back that r been sold and get them back on offer for us all x 🙁 !

Between gumtree and ebay the sheer greed !

  8. Looks like the first set of Christmas lights tickets are being sold on ebay.co.uk – I hate that people are making money from a free event, but what choice do those of us who never got tickets have to get tickets.

    1. There is quite a few for sale now, one person is selling 6 tickets for £80, when they got them for free! Looks like you’ll need to pay over a tenner at least per ticket. These people really have no shame.

  9. Got all excited and thought “Yes” another chance to get tickets and make my 2 wee boys happy but sadly no, there were none available on ticketsoup.

  10. it seems if you ordered them at the back of 1 in the morning, then yes ud get them, but at 10am…….ALL GONE……il just go stand at queen street station!

  11. just got your email and went on to ticketsoup website first thing this morning. Managed to get tickets… thanks so much for your helpful info!!

  12. after failing to get tickets the first time they go and get your hopes up and still have none are they just trying to cover there back sides after the first time IT,S NO RIGHT just a scam 🙁

  13. I have just been on the ticket soup website and there seems to more tickets on sale…..!!! I had called SECC to see if more tickets would be available. Was told NO…!! So it seems strange that tickets are available, but if i get them who cares………
