Location: The Hydro, Glasgow
Indie-chav rockers, the Arctic Monkey’s, are heading to Glasgow this November as part of their 2013 tour.
The Arctic Monkeys have gained a reputation as one of the most influential British bands of the last few years and are currently riding high following their well-received appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.
They are also gearing up for the release of their fifth studio album AM in September (which means it should be relaesed by the time they play in Glasgow) and will be supported by the young and talented four-piece The Strypes at the Hydro.
From playing the pubs of Sheffield to gracing the biggest stages in the world, the rise and rise of the Arctic Monkeys is a modern musical phenomenon. Heralded as one of the first acts to come to the public attention via internet fan-based sites, they were eventually signed to the independent record label: Domino Records.
Arctic Monkeys achieved chart success with their second single, ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor’, which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ (2006), became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe’ and remaining the fastest-selling debut album for a band. It received critical acclaim, winning both the 2006 Mercury Prize and the 2007 BRIT Award for Best British Album.
