Arcade Fire UK arena tour announced with one night in Glasgow’s SECC.
Arcade Fire are set to end the year in the UK with an arena tour across the country in December. The band have confirmed they are due to play a show at London’s O2 Arena on December 1st, followed by dates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.
Fronted by husband and wife duo Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, Arcade Fire is comprised of a group of multi-talented multi-instramentalist musicians. The band tend to take most of their instruments on tour, which alongside the usual guitar, drums and bass could include piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin and even the hurdy-gurdy!
Arcade Fire’s third studio album The Suburbs was released in August 2010 to worldwide acclaim. It received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals (for ‘Ready To Start’), as well as a nomination for Album of the Year .
The Canadian band played two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden earlier this year, with a simultaneous stream directed by filmmaker Terry Gilliam broadcast on YouTube. Also playing an intimate gig at London’s Hackney Empire, Arcade Fire garnered rave reviews ahead of their headline slot at Reading and Leeds festivals.
