The Irn Bru Carnival

irn-bru-carnival-glasgow-secc18th December 2009 – 10th January 2010

Location:  SECC, Glasgow

Tickets:  £10 for 10 vouchers.  THERE ARE NO WRISTBANDS!!!!!

Europe’s biggest indoor funfair, The Irn Bru Carnival, is returning once again to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow.

Festive favourite, IRN-BRU Carnival, recently named best event of the year, is back at the SECC, Glasgow from December 18 until January 10.  Prices have been held at 2007 levels (entry price  £10 = 10 rides) making it the ideal festive treat for the credit crunch.

Visitors are promised fun for all the family at this year s IRN-BRU Carnival, which is now in its 89th year. It will be packed with over 60 fun attractions including Superbowl, Waltzer, Ghost Train and the Dodgems.  For thrill seekers rides include Mega Mix, Move It, Drop Zone, Speed Buzz and the brand new Extreme, while for younger visitors there is the best selection of juvenile rides ever including Cups & Saucers, Wacky Racer Car Track and Chairoplanes. There will also be a fantastic selection of stalls including darts, basketball, hook a duck and Boogie-heads, the latest craze from America where you can star in your very own music DVD.

Make sure you pick up your brochure at the IRN-BRU Carnival , which this year includes fantastic, discounted offers at some of Scotland s top attractions!

Entry and ride costs:

Each ride will cost just  £1, with visitors paying an entry price of  £10 giving them 10 vouchers, which can be exchanged for 10 rides. Entry on every ride is one voucher, while game stalls are two vouchers (the equivalent of  £2)  per go.   Vouchers can be passed to friends and family enabling accompanying adults to give vouchers to the young ones.  Children aged 3 and under enter free.  Once inside the hall visitors can buy extra vouchers at  £1 each.

For kids with Glasgow Young Scot / Kidz Cards and those with East Dunbartonshire Young Scot Cards, entry is only £5 (they still get 10 vouchers).

Hi x i was thinking of going this year. What do you think the appropriate age range will be to go ? Also what rides are availiable.

PS When people are asking about wrist bands i presume they mean if you can get them as an alternative to the vouchers as maybe it was just easier/cheaper to get them instead.

I usually take my friend and her four kids to the carnival but I note it is the same as last year with supervising adults having to buy a voucher book instead of a wristband. The £10 each for the two adults really was a rip off and last year we went home with 20 vouchers. The kids used up their vouchers but there was only so much we could fit into one day what with the queues etc. We wont be going this year It will cost me £60 plus all the sweets and food so you are talking well over £100 to take my pals kids out for a treat. Another break in tradition… oh well. Maybe the promoters could re-think and let people pay a nominal entrance if they are not going on any rides.

eeerm hiaaaa, hingmy ivee only liveed in glasgow foor a year, i used to live in belfaaaast and theey had summit very simmilaar, it waas veeery cheaaapm and had WRISTBANDS, it was 10 for unlimited ride and u only had to pay for sweets & drinks ahnool, so they daaay out would cost no more than £15 , laaast yeaaar when i went i spent £30 blummin pouund, co we was there all day!, but still what if u wantoo go on a ride twice, i reaaaly think u shud consider thesess comments, because afterall we areee the ones that are payin, ! my friends work at it, and although im not havin to pay this yeaaar, its still a bit of a rip off, anywaaays i still think its very goood, and enjoyable, :D :D(H)! x

Hello, i live next to the Irn Bru Carnival. This year you can’t get wrist bands but you have to get vouchers £1 each. If you have an Youg Scot Card, or Kidz Cards and those with East Dunbartonshire Young Scot Cards, entry will be £5 ( but they still get 10 vouchers ). If you don’t want to go on any rides but want to go in the building, entry is free. If your 1o vouchers are finished you can egt more inside the building £1 each, and for winning prizes and other games it is £2 each. Hope you find this comment helpful. :)

I think the Irn Bru Carnival should have the wrist bands again, and make the price about £15 and go on how many rides you want to.

If I live in North ayrshire will my Young Scot Card work? Also BRING BACK WRISTBANDS! Why Couldn’t they keep the Wrist bands more people come and spend a longer time in side therefore spending more money on food and Drink!

  50. jaye brown

I am an adult. i take my two small children every year and i agree that it is not a good deal for families or young ones.
the families end up with £40 worth of vouchers which is far too much for kiddy rides, and of course we cant use adult ones because who would watch our weans?
and 10 rides for £10 is not enough for the young ones, who want to stay all day. i expect thats why the wristbands dont exist anymore.
But we still go every year, totally avoiding the foodcourt, we just go to mcds.
The kids card is a good deal though, lets my 2 school age kids in for £5 each. im so grateful i only have 2 weans at this kind of thing. J x

I was planing on going to the carnival on the fifth but I go to a Renfrewshire school and we dont go back to school on the fifth so
now I can’t go to the carnival at all because it doesnt open until five o’clock and I happen to be doing something at five o’clock so for the likes of people who go back to school on the sixth should be considerd in this account and from the seventh to the tenth is just not ideal.I am very dissappointed and will not be going to your carnival this year.

    Chloe,

It isn’t our carnival. Any complaints should be directed to Glasgow City Council and the SECC, as they are the organisers and the folks who run the carnival.
